North of Vancouver and along the Columbia River is the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge. Though most of it is off limits, there are two sections with good hikes in the swamps. Mosquitos are ferocious but the place is crawling with birds and ducks.
The northern unit of the wildlife refuge is a little smaller but features an indian longhouse.
