The east end is Wintler Park, with its big beach. It's a little too dangerous for swimming but it's usually pretty busy in the summer with boaters and sunbathers.
The west end is Marine Park which has a big grassy picnic area and pavilion. It's a short walk to the river where there is a boat ramp and small beach.

On Vancouver's south side are the river front parks of Wintler and Marine. They're only a mile apart and connected by a paved footpath that follows the riverbank.
