Close to Hana is some of the thickest rain forest on the island and several beautiful beaches.





















But the farther west you go, the dryer and more lonely it gets. Some of the western beaches have probably never had human contact yet.







Maui Hawaii Travels 2002       The drive around southern Maui is nothing like the forested north coast. This remote and lonely coast is dry and rugged, with no sign of civilization, as if you're the last person on earth.
