After a few miles on the Pikes Peak Highway the road crosses the dam of Crystal Reservoir. These lakes were closed to the public for years, but are now open for hiking, biking and fishing. There's even a new visitor center just past the dam where the view of Pikes Peak across the lake is one of the most beautiful in all of Colorado, and you don't even have to leave your car. This will probably be the new cover photo for spring update of our trail map software.
