A lot of locals and visitors are no doubt wondering how much damage the Hayman fire had done to the Pike National Forest this year. 137,000 acres have burnt but only a few trails and jeep roads in the central P.N.F. were affected. Here is a summary :

The whole Pike National Forest had been closed, but is now mostly reopened.

Remarkably, very few of the popular trails have burnt over. The only trails in Zoltan's guidebook that have burnt are those around Cheesman Reservoir. The Wigwam, Goose Creek and Hankins Pass trails were only partly burnt over.

These jeep roads have been burnt over : Upper Cedar Mtn Road, Trail Creek Road, Signal Butte Road, Hackett Gulch, and Motorcycle Trail 717.

These trails are not burnt but were on the edge : Rainbow Falls, Fern Creek, , Hotel Gulch, Manitou Lake.
