Pikes Peak Trail Guide

Crags Trail

4 Mile Loop Trail 10100-10800 Elevation

These jaggy cliffs offer beautiful views of Pikes Peak's northwest foothills, The short scenic hike to the rocky outcrop makes this a popular spot for hikers and campers.

Head 25 miles west on Route 24 to Divide Village, and then turn south on Route 67. Drive 4.5 miles and turn left on the side road labeled Mennonite Camp. Follow the bumpy road three miles to the Crags parking area.

This trail starts out following a creek into the hills with only a slight climb. At mile 0.8 is a fork, which is the beginning and end of the same loop. Most people go straight, which will climb the back side of the Crags. The leisurely pace continues until you reach the foot of the Crags outcrop, where you'll have to do a little rock scrambling. Follow the trail around to the left as it comes out on top of the castle-like formation, continuing on to several great viewing points.

Hiking in this direction the trail crosses the top of the Crags going east to west, and then continues down the western side and into a park-like bowl and then back to the main trail.
