Pikes Peak Trail Guide

Hiking Vacation
If you're in town for a few days and want to do some hiking, these trails would all be a good bet.

Bear Creek Trail
This is one of the fastest dropping creeks in the region and is a scenic hike through deep forest and tall cliffs. The trail is quite rough and not runable on a bike.

Rampart Reservoir
The 12 mile trail that circles Rampart Reservoir has it all - cool forest, cool rocks, great views, and a beautiful mountain lake. This popular location also boasts three campgrounds and good fishing. The north side is more interesting, with cool rocks and a view of Pikes Peak across the lake.

Crags Trail
The Crags formation is a giant dome of a cliff just south of Divide village. The starts out following a scenic creek through the forest with towering mountains all around and lots of rock formations near by. The Crags cover a big area with good views of the Ute Pass area and lots of big rocks to climb on.

Mt Big Chief Trail
At the start of the Mount Baldy Road is a trail that takes you to the top of Mount Big Chief. This 11,200 foot peak offers spectacular views of the entire range south of Pikes Peak.

Devils Head Trail
Thirty miles north of Woodland Park is the jagged peak of Devils Head. This giant dome of a peak towers over the forest like a skyscraper. The exhausting trail ends in a scenic meadow and then you get to climb a hundred feet of stairs to the fire tower at the peaks highest point.

Elk Park Trail
This trail starts just above treeline on the Pikes Peak Highway and heads southeast two miles to the bottom of the Bottomless Pit. This is an area of deep forest, sparkling creeks and an abandon mining camp.
