The best roller skating places are long stretches of
paved footpath, preferably with few hills or traffic.
These places fit the bill and are scenic to boot.
Garden of Gods
Now that they've converted half of the main road into
a bike lane, the park has become one of the best places
in the state for roller skating. It's buzzing with
bikers and hikers, but the main loop is way-scenic and
not too technical.
Memorial Park
The one mile paved path that circles Prospect Lake is
popular with roller skaters and is pretty scenic. The
whole loop is a park with picnic areas and fishing in
the lake.
Monument Valley Trail
This path follows the river for a dozen miles through
central Colorado Springs. Most of it is paved and it's
pretty fun as it passes along parks, musuems, swimming
pools and ball fields.
Centennial Bike Path
This ten mile path connects Woodland Park to Manitou Lake,
and several campgrounds in between. It's paved the whole
way as it winds through the scenic forest and meadows.
Catch a ride back to town, unless you want to climb 700
feet on the way back.
Arkansas River Trail
This paved trail follows the Arkansas River from Pueblo to
Pueblo Reservoir. The five miles from Pueblo Blvd to the
lake is real pretty as it passes picnic areas and ponds,
and you can even slosh in the river to cool off.
