Pikes Peak Trail Guide

Highest Elevations
The highest trails in this area are naturally on the slopes of Pikes Peak. Any of these would make a great test of lung power.

Mount Baldy Road
This jeep road tops out at 12,000 feet near the top of Mount Baldy. The ten mile ride from Gold Camp Road to the top is one of the region's best tests of lung and leg power, and the views are stunning.

Pancake Rocks Trail
This three mile trail tops out at 11,000 feet, 1500 feet above the tunnel south of Divide. The trail starts out steep then turns really-steep as it makes a rock strewn ascent up the mountain. This is the most exhausting trail in the region that's actually rideable.

Barr Trail
As the only trail to the top of Pikes Peak, this is the highest trail in this region at 14,110 feet. The 12 miles and 7000 foot elevation gain turns most hikes into an overnight expedition.

Elk Park Trail
This five mile spur connects the Barr Trail to the Pikes Peak Highway. The trailhead on the Pikes Peak highway is about 11,500 feet and then it's downhill to Ghost Town Hollow and the Barr Trail.

Mount Big Chief Trail
At 11,200 feet, this is one of the higher peaks south of Pikes Peak, towering 1300 feet over Gold Camp Road. The views are great and the trail not too bad.
