The best downhills don't require a death-grip on the brakes,
or rock piles that have to be walked over. These roads
provide hours of fun without the terror.
Woodland to Manitou
Just sit back and coast 18 miles as you drop 2000 feet from
Woodland Park to Manitou Springs on Route 24. It's a pretty
ride but the way-fun lower section is also a death trap of
Grand Prix hopefulls.
Phantom Canyon Road
This remote canyon is an effortless 25 miles as the road drops
4000 feet from Victor to Canyon City. It's also beautiful
Colorado epic as it drops off the high forested plateau and
into the deep canyon.
Mount Baldy Road
This ten mile dirt road drops 2000 feet as it heads from
Stratton Reservoir to Gold Camp Road. Although it really
does require a death grip on the brakes, the views are
stunning and the forest beautiful.
Lower Rampart Range Road
This twelve miles of beatup dirt is loaded with views as you
drop 2500 feet from the Pikeview Overlook and cruise into
Garden of the Gods. Be sure to work on your grip before
trying these steep hairpins and bone-jarring washboards.
Mount Herman Road
The lower ten miles of this road is twisty and beatup,
just like Lower Rampart Range Road. But it's not too bad
on a bike and the views are great as it drops 2000 feet
on it's way to Monument.
